Our commitment to quality transcends typical standards; it's embedded in every step of our supply chain. We meticulously monitor every stage of production, from purchasing parchment to ensuring green coffee consistency. Our 7-stage quality control processes preserve each coffee variety's unique characteristics, resulting in a superior product for our customers to enjoy. By adhering to strict traceability standards, we ensure that every bean not only meets the highest quality criteria but also builds trust across the supply chain. This guarantees our producer partners that their efforts are conserved, our roaster partners a consistent profile to roast harvest after harvest, and their consumers a delicious, responsible cup of coffee.

Caravela is committed to a direct-to-farm approach that ensures higher levels of transparency and traceability for our certified coffee. We promote responsible agricultural practices among our producer partners and fully support them in achieving the Organic certification. Beyond Caravela covering certification costs, our PECA team provides comprehensive guidance, including technical assistance, access to educational resources, and documentation support. This approach ensures that producers not only meet certification standards, but also have access to higher prices and develop the skills needed to sustain these practices over the long term. We are certain this approach builds trust with our producer partners and ensures full traceability and consistency for our roaster partners.
By supporting producer partners with the Organic certification, we promote responsible farming practices, while enhancing transparency, traceability and open new market opportunities for coffee communities.

For over 23 years, we've fostered direct relationships with smallholder coffee producers and observed their increasing vulnerability to market, social, and environmental shocks. Despite industry-wide efforts, such as ours at Caravela, to support these producers, we now fear that the essential knowledge of coffee production within these communities is at risk of vanishing. This invaluable intellectual property, honed over generations to differentiate farms based on unique terroir and coffee variety complexity, is predominantly held by males aged 50 and older. Unfortunately, this knowledge is no longer passed down to younger generations or shared with spouses and partners. Those under 30 often seek employment in cities, viewing it as more stable and appealing. Additionally, women on coffee farms rarely have a say in decisions regarding processing, sales, or children education.
