BEYOND COMPLIANCE:
MAPPING RISK TO PROTECT FORESTS

Our assessments distinguish between farms flagged for non-compliance (a deforestation event occurred after the cutoff date 01 January 2021 ) and those with significant deforested area. This matters: some non-compliant farms represent small, isolated events; others involve more extensive loss.

By tracing to this level of detail, we help roasters make informed, responsible decisions about sourcing. And by acting now—not just when regulation requires it—we support producers in meeting emerging standards before they become exclusionary. This work isn’t easy, but it’s necessary. Deforestation-free coffee should be the floor, not the ceiling. We’re building a system to make that the norm.

DEFORESTATION RISK ASSESSMENTS

MEASURING TO IMPROVE, NOT JUST TO REPORT

We track our carbon footprint to learn how each part of our operation contributes to emissions, and how we can reduce that impact while continuing to grow. By focusing on emissions per kilogram of green coffee exported, we can monitor real efficiency over time—not just total volume. This metric allows us to understand how our growth, operations, and decisions affect environmental performance over time. Compared to our baseline, we’ve reduced emissions per unit of coffee, reflecting improvements in how we operate and move coffee globally. This process is ongoing. We see carbon tracking as a learning journey—one that informs practical, data-driven action and continuous operational refinement. It’s not a marketing claim. It’s a working strategy.

BY MEASURING EMISSIONS PER KILOGRAM OF COFFEE EXPORTED, WE’RE BUILDING A ROADMAP FOR CONTINUOUS, MEASURABLE IMPROVEMENT. NOT JUST COMPLIANCE OR WILD CLAIMS.
